Neu! albums

Neu! (1972) - rating: ****
The debut album of the band from Michael Rother and Klaus Dinger after leaving Kraftwerk. Only succesfull in 1972 in West Germany but later worldwide recognized as one of the best albums of the Krautrock genre.

Neu! 2 (1973) - rating: ***
The first 4 songs were recorded as a follow-up to the debut album. The rest is mainly the previously released single: Neuschnee/Super played at different speeds or mangled in a cassette recorder. This second side is disappointing and a way to solve money problems by the band to finish the album. The official versions of the single were thank god also offered besides the strange experiments with speed and mangling.

Neu! '75 (1975) - rating: *****
The best album they released and a big inspiration for many artists including David Bowie. It was released after Michael Rother released an album as the supergroup Harmonia together with the members of Cluster. Read more

Neu! 4 (aka Neu! '86) - rating: *
Michael Rother and Klaus Dinger started recording a new album in 1985/1986 but the recordings were never finished. Finally the album was released in 1995 as Neu! 4 and revised in 2010 as Neu! '86. Both versions are disappointing and must have remained unreleased.
